Atlanta July 3 Special The expected break between Chief Engineer Warren Neel and Chairman John Holder is now eminent and may be precipitated at the next Highway Board meeting. Rumors in political circles say the split cannot be postponed much longer as Neel and Holder clash over engineering versus political approaches.
Defense counsel announced a federal injunction request to halt enforcement of the Tennessee law banning evolution teaching. The hearing is set for Monday or Tuesday in Knoxville or Chattanooga, with the transfer motion and injunction likely delaying the case.

He had planned to accept the long standing challenge of Harry Wills, the negro heavyweight, on behalf of Dempsey. The board said the matter remains unchanged until Kearns accepts the Wills challenge.

Paris reports the French Council of Ministers approved sending the debt commission to the United States this summer. Finance Minister Caillaux is expected to accompany the group and arrive in Washington in late September to finalize repayment plans for the war debt. Allenhurst Ga July 3 A A Martin 45 head millwright of the TPunleine Lumber company is dead after a street fight with W A Rivenbark who is jailed charged with the killing. Rivenbark says Martin accosted him and a struggle led to a pistol shot. Martin died of a chest wound before a physician arrived. Rivenbark says he is an operator at a Dunlevie band mill.
The Times-Recorder announces no paper on Monday July 6 as banks in Sumter county close Saturday July 4 for a legal holiday. Merchants and Carnegie Library also observe the holiday. shoppers are urged to prepare for Sunday and Monday.

Atlanta July 5 Practically all resolutions of Chairman John N Holder of the state highway department announced last week were adopted at a board meeting held yesterday presided over by Holder. Stanley Bennet of Quitman whose appointment continued.
A 13 year old delivery boy, Jarmes Null, was fatally injured when his bicycle tangled with a lumber truck on Spring Street near the railroad crossing. The truck driver Will Evans did not know of the accident until stopped. The boy was taken to Dr Prather's hospital but had little chance of recovery due to internal injuries.
Swampscott on July 3 reports Mrs. Coolidge, wife of President Coolidge, narrowly escaped a motorcycle collision while walking. A quick leap to the crowd’s side likely prevented serious injury.
