Women of Carolina Honor Victor Blue With Medal
New York January 18 Lieutenant Victor Blue of the United States Navy was honored aboard the battleship Massachusetts by the Women of South Carolina for his heroism during the Spanish American War. Ex Governor Thompson presented a gold medal inscribed with appreciation of Courage and Distinguished Services in the Santiago de Cuba Campaign. Attendees included Rear Admiral J W Philip and Mrs Philip, and many officers and ladies from Columbia Tennessee and Charleston. luncheon followed a ceremony in the officers mess.
