A Mitylene correspondent of the Greek newspaper reports an attempted assassination of Mustapha Kemal Pasha, president of Turkey, at Smyrna. A hand grenade aimed at Kemal wounded his wife, with details telegraphed to Athens.
Tommy McCarthy, burned recently while at meals with his mother and family, is much better today. Initial reports of severe injuries were exaggerated. His grandmother Mrs. Ross says he will be entirely well soon, noting a coffee can spill caused no serious burns.
