Clarke Comer, one of the best known Black residents of Americus, died Sunday night at his home at age 87 after a lengthy illness. Once sexton of the First Methodist church before its building burned, he had limited activity in recent years. He was a member of the colored Methodist church on Forrest street, and his funeral was held there at 2 p.m. today conducted by Rev. M. W. Reddick.
