West arrived at his McCoy Street home in a 22 automobile with a woman. Neighbors observed him carrying a package into the house, suspected to be liquor. A search warrant recovered liquor of the blockade variety. West admitted buying it from a white man near Huntington for his own use. He was previously convicted in City court last February on a liquor charge and fined heavily.
First Lieutenant John Marshall Slaton Jr returns from France and prepares to resume his career. He belongs to a family of three brothers who volunteered after the war declaration, with Captain William F. Slaton serving in Germany and the Second Division praised for Chateau Thierry. One brother Waldo M. Slaton died recently of influenza in Chicago.

Justice agents nabbed George and Decatur Crawley near Blairsville after a mountain pursuit spanning Union County Tennessee and North Carolina. Soldiers from Camp Gordon pursued the duo, who surrendered meekly in a mountain cabin forty miles from Knoxville without a fight.

A cablegram from American Expeditionary Forces in France lists total U S casualties in Siberia through February as 10 officers and 314 men. He said he was not reflecting on Jewish people generally and discussed a Petrograd commune governing committee containing 16 Russians and 265 New Yorkers and American Negroes.
