Washington December 8. The Senate committee opened a probe into Senator Thomas E. Watson’s claim that private soldiers were hanged without court martial during the war. Chairman Brandegee said the inquiry would not target Watson but seek to learn if army officers were murderers. Colonel Walter Bethel testified 11 American expeditionary forces were hanged in France after due convictions.

Two Robbers Shot by Train Guards Near Savannah

18 Dead In Ships On North Coast
