Washington D C Dec 5 A fifteen percent increase in pork production is required for domestic use and export to the Allies in Europe the department of agriculture announced today The plan allocates states a fixed increase with every Southern state including South Carolina set at fifteen percent to relieve a current shortage and urge farmers to participate

Paris Dec 5 The foreign office announced that in the inter allied conference with the United States participation allies agreed on a complete understanding for the war and creation of a supreme Inter allied naval committee. The inter allied general staff is developing a definite military program to unity in action.
The grand jury convened this afternoon to investigate conditions in the vice district with the aim of disrupting disorderly houses. About seventy five witnesses were summoned, mainly local young men and property owners.
J M Pope a well known farmer living eleven miles out on the Le street road died yesterday afternoon after a month's illness in the 49th year of his age. He had resided in this county six years, moving from Gray's Creek North Carolina. Surviving him are his wife a son CR Pope a daughter Mrs Annie May and his father B W Pope a brother P Pope and two sisters Mrs Laura Coates and Mrs Claud Smith of Dann North Carolina. The funeral will be from the residence tomorrow with Rev R L Bivins officiating and interment in Smithville cemetery.
