Fires At Roberts Farm Stir Gilmer County
In Ellijay Georgia on August 25 residents report a string of arsons on the Roberts farm along the Ellijay river two miles north of town. A barn crib and several small outbuildings burned in daylight. The crib held about 50 bushels of corn. A man with a blackened face was seen fleeing into the woods after a fire outbreak in an outbuilding. A previous kitchen fire and a broom thrown into the dwelling top were extinguished. A herding dog was shot earlier on the property. The community remains highly excited.
