Washington reports preliminary exchanges continue toward restoring diplomatic relations with Mexico but no definite moves have been made. Officials say the conference between the two countries is satisfactory though many details remain to be cleared up.
In Chicago municipal court Judge Samuel Trude dismissed a criminal assault charge against Cyrus Adler son of Sears Roebuck vice-president Max Adler. The aunt of a Milwaukee schoolgirl failed to appear and relatives declined to press charges. The judge also dismissed the assault charge and kept a weapons charge pending further investigation.
Atlanta August 28 The joint commission appointed by both houses to investigate the Department of Agriculture has fixed its first meeting for September. The probe follows charges of reckless waste and extravagance and will run for sixty days after adjournment, with aims to conclude before the November 7 special session.
East Macon Baptist church extends a call to Rev. J Bernard Tallent, current pastor at Roseville Georgia, to succeed Rev A J Johnson who preached farewell after accepting a Jefferson Georgia church. Tallent, Carson-Newman graduate, has led Roseville since 1914 with a two-year military service break.
Rotarians from Albany Columbus Macon Moultrie Thomasville and likely Quitman converge on Americus Thursday afternoon to welcome District Governor Ken Guernsey of Orlando Florida on his first official visit to the 39th Rotary district covering Georgia and Florida. About 150 to 200 Rotarians are expected to attend with travel by train and car as Americus Kiwanis Club supports the Rotary program during the afternoon and evening.
In New Orleans on August 28 President Coolidge urged undivided allegiance to the constitution and obedience to legislation in a letter to A Newmey president of the Southern Newspaper Publishers association. The message responds to a letter asking how newspapers can best aid the government.
Dublin August 28 President Cosgrave of the Dail Eireann has been elected on a first preference vote from Kilkenny. Richard Mulcahy minister of defense and Kevin O Higgins minister of home affairs have also been returned.
At a Dougherty county meeting of Georgia Peanut Growers Cooperative Association members held at the courthouse, a county organization was perfected and officers elected: Chairman George B. Mack, Vice Chairman D. L. Wooten, Southwest Dougherty Chairman Eri L. Greaton, West Dougherty Chairman D. Y. Sebk, East Dougherty Chairman J. W. Pinson, Secretary J. Irwin Davis.
Close friends of Governor Clifford Walker anticipate the appointment of a state game and fish commissioner to replace J. Frank Rhodes, who has served under Governor Hardwick. A special commission of representative citizens will also be named to conduct a broad study of state taxation problems this week.
Three Americans were injured when a French passenger airplane crashed last night in Maidstone England. Mrs. Douglas Smith of Hartford Connecticut suffered broken nasal bones and severe body cuts. Albert Austin of New York State endured extreme nervous shock. Douglas Smith escaped serious injury.
Washington reports a nationwide drive will mobilize all federal secret agencies to force bootleggers and narcotics peddlers from near hospitals where World War veterans are treated. The Veterans Bureau notes alarming narcotic addiction reports and the drive aligns with prohibition agents targeting bootleggers. The Disabled American Veterans urged tougher penalties for narcotics sales to disabled ex-service members in proposed federal law.

MOULTRIE Aug. 28 Henry Graffin Colquitt county farmer tells how a sleeping giant snake in his cotton field yielded seven unbroken eggs. He killed the reptile and after a post mortem hatched seven guineas when placed under a setting hen.
Athens dispatch reports General Telini president of the delimitation commission for the Greco Albanian frontier and Surgeon Major Sport, his chauffeur and aide de camp, were assassinated near London. The alert notes the Athens dispatch as the source and dates the event to August 28.
The Moultrie Chamber of Commerce plans a fall delegation to the northwest to lure livestock and dairy farmers to Southwest Georgia where lands are cheap. Advertising campaigns will highlight regional advantages and newspaper space will be used. Moultrie hosts a packing house capacity for 2,000 hogs and 500 cattle daily and houses the region’s second largest creamery.
In a midair refueling endurance flight above San Diego Captain Lowell H. Smith and Lieutenant John P. Richter topped 24 hours. They earlier set two speed marks covering 2,500 kilometers in 17 hours 33 seconds and 3,000 kilometers in 26 hours 11 1 2 seconds.
Beechwood Lumber company plans a $60,000 hardwood plant in East Cordele between the Seaboard and the A B A railroads. The mill will employ 70 to 100 workers with a monthly payroll of 12000 to 20000 dollars. Site was located last week and papers signed. construction to finish quickly and plant to operate at full capacity within sixty days.
Montgomery August 28 The governor asks the Legislature to raise the gasoline tax from 2 cents to 3 cents a gallon. The general revenue bill that takes effect October 1 would give counties all of the two cent tax instead of the prior method of sharing the revenue between state and counties.
A gang outside Essex Market court left seven men shot after seven members of the Kid Dropper gang were discharged from custody due to police inability to link them to a previous shooting. The courtroom erupted in uproar as reserves and ambulances were called, with the taxi carrying discharged men attacked. Jack Kaplan alias Kid Dropper was shot en route to Dix hospital.
Shelby resident Simmons reports a discovered parasite fly harming boll weevils on his farm. In 17 punctured squares, 16 yielded a smaller fly grub after weevil grub, killing the weevil. The fly lays eggs only in squares damaged by the weevil, neutralizing the weevil. Cleveland County farmers show interest but have not identified the parasite.

White House says President Coolidge sees progress in avoiding suspension of anthracite coal mining. Federal Fuel Administrator Wadleigh launches plan in New York with governors, railroads and agencies. Two phases aim to distribute current coal supplies and educate the public to conserve fuel and prevent waste.
Washington report shows anthracite coal prices more than doubled in ten years with growth shared by production costs transportation and profits. In 1913 Boston stove coal averaged 8.25 dollars and Washington 7.50 dollars. Current prices stand at 15.00 and 15.39 dollars with freight rate from the market noted.
Springfield Ills August 28 The Illinois soldiers bonus board failed to receive a single bid for 15 million dollars in bonds offered weeks ago. Representatives of two banking groups were present when the board met to consider bids but refused to offer at 4 1/2 percent current interest, saying the rate is too low given market conditions.
Minneapolis August 28 A nationwide investigation of gasoline prices was decided upon by the National Association of Attorneys General in a resolution adopted at their annual convention here today.
