Disastrous Wreck on Western North Carolina Line Near Statesville

Describes a catastrophic wreck on the Richmond and Danville line at Third Creek trestle two miles west of Statesville. About 30 or more killed and 15 wounded, with many yet to be identified. Engineed by West, the train plunged seventy feet into the creek after the trestle collapsed in the early hours, amid a night of cries and splashing water. Only two passengers escaped unhurt.
