In Columbus on August 25 officials confirm the sale of the Georgia Alabama Power Company and the South Georgia Public Service Company to the Columbus Electric and Power Company. Brockford Ill August 25 Eight negro soldiers including Captain O A Browning were killed when a trench mortar exploded at Camp Grant on the field range as Browning and his crew gathered for firing instructions. Six others were seriously injured and about twenty sustained minor hurts. Major General Milton J Foreman ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Rosie Napierkowski, 15, found dying on a bridge pier ledge over the Allegheny river after being moved by four men. She uttered the name Joseph before dying. Police pursue murder and self-inflicted death theories. three youths and a girl questioned, Stella Koch released after saying Rosie was attacked by two men before attempting suicide.
At 2 o'clock today 30 Boy Scouts notified C J Williams secretary treasurer of the Palladium Club they would attend at 8 tonight for the big banquet. The Palladium Club aims to reorganize the Boy Scouts in Americus and build a strong local organization in Georgia.

Two train robbers boarded Santa Fe train 7% between San Diego and Santa Ana last night and looted the mail and express car. Express messenger Elmer Campbell was shot, beaten, and found unconscious on the car floor. the strong box and mail pouches were breached and letters scattered. Police believe Campbell may die from his injuries as bullet holes and shattered glass marked the car.
Congressman Charles R Crisp and his wife returned to Americus from a three month survey of the Far East and the Philippines aboard the U S 5 Chaumont. The party visited Honolulu Japan Guam Shanghai and other cities gathering information for Washington. They met their son Lieut Charles F Crisp in Shanghai and joined a four week Chinese tour before returning. The judge noted unrest among students in Shanghai but observed contentment among the lower Yellow class.
Thirty young men in Americus will be initiated as a new Demolay chapter at the Masonic hall. A Columbus team of 20 youths will lead the ceremony with local Masons assisting, inviting Sumter County Masons to attend as the order begins regular meetings next week.
