Edwin R. Bergdoll of Philadelphia found guilty of desertion for evading the draft and sentenced to four years at hard labor at Fort Leavenworth, announced today at Governor's Island.
After Stephen Pace announced he would not seek re election in Georgia, E Timmerman of Sumter county said he will not run in the coming Primary. Timmerman, who has served two terms for four years, stated the decision was understood six months ago and confirmed it now. Only candidate so far for the two vacancies is G C Thomas of Cobb.
West Point native Trox Bankston former West Point News publisher and ex state legislator from Troup county visited Americus today campaigning for state railroad commissioner against incumbent Paul Trammel. He traveled by auto with accompanying staff from Montezuma toward Preston Lumpkin and Richland.
