Bartlett Withdrawals Lead to Cabaniss Nomination for Congress

In IndiaN Struma Ga August 17 special report notes Thomas B. Cabaniss secured the Democratic nomination for Congress in the South District on the 169th ballot after Charles S. Bartlett withdrew and five of Bibb County’s six votes shifted to Cabaniss. The nomination was made unanimous with speeches pledging support. Whitfield declared he would run again. The event left the party in good shape amid a lengthy, good humored balloting.
