Rev. A B Campbell leads a series at the Brenau Baptist church with assistance from Rev. Parker of Colquitt. Mrs Edwin McGowan and her children from Pensacola are visiting Mrs Jou Veacock.
Crawford avenue is being improved by Crawford Wheatley who lent $1 500 for the project. A force of workers and four mules plows and scrapers dig in, with Samuel McGarrah supervising. The aim is a solid street and possible expansion to other streets in East Americus.
Revival services by Rev. Austin of Plains and Rev. Postell of Richland closed Friday night at Rylander. No new members joined, but the event is viewed as fruitful. Local residents mentioned include Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Israel of Quincy en route to Atlanta. List of visitors and social exchanges among area families follows.
A social gathering hosted by Mr and Mrs J R McGee honored Miss Annie Rosa McGee of Savannah with about twenty five guests and games. Protracted services began at the Methodist church, led by Rev J M Rastin. Epworth League juniors held a picnic at Bacon’s Mill. Numerous residents and visitors are listed with travels and visits to Americus, Tybee, Knoxville, and other towns, plus health updates and thanks for fire relief.
The ad promotes Dr Kings New Life Pills as a cure for liver trouble and to improve health. It lists symptoms such as constipation headache jaundice a dull complexion pimples and loss of appetite. The product is priced 25 cents and available at Eldridge Drug Co.
Smithville Ga August 4. Mrs H T Simpson returns from Macon to visit relatives. Lydia Cochran of Montezuma visits sister Mrs Julian Glaze. Arthur Parker and children back from Shiloh. Kate McKenney visits Albany with Marguerite Davis. Louise Roberts returns to Macon after visiting Grace and Mamie Boulineau. Rosa Christie guests in Dawson. Mrs R B Salter visits Mobile with daughter Mrs J C Eastman. Mrs Bill Munroe of Raleigh NC enjoys visit in Smithville. Dr Malone of Cuthbert期间 business visit. Ethel McManus returns from Macon. Smithville youths host a moonlight picnic at Wells Mill for local girls. Embroidery Club hosts Monday with refreshments.
Mrs E Roney Jordan hosted guests Miss Marguerite Crane Ruth Smith of Buena Vista and Miss Lulu Mathis of Americus with white roses and ferns in the home. A later refreshment hour followed. guests wore white, pink, blue silk, and white linen gowns. Card announcements include the upcoming marriage of Martha Baldwin to Harvey Perry on Aug 12 at the Williams home.
Lamar Morton of Americus, flag man for Seaboard Railway, lost a limb when his train ran over him at Erick after leaving Americus for Savannah. He was taken to Vida la for surgical care. Morton, a young man from Stewart County, had joined Americus recently.
Lamar Morton flagman for Seaboard died from injuries after being run over by a freight train near Erick on Monday. He resided in Americus and was highly regarded by friends here. The body will be moved to Richland for interment.
Mr W C Sullivan is seriously ill with fever at his home, the illness taking hemorrhagic form. He had been in the river district recently and is believed to have contracted the fever there. He was quite ill in the morning but showed some improvement later in the day.
Atlanta August 3 The house days refused to increase the State University appropriation from 32 600 to 37 500. A party including Messrs A A Robinson O P Jerton M DeVaughn and W Young gathered here as the discussion unfolded.
A group of Fifteen touring cars carried First Methodist Sunday school teachers and guests from Holly Springs to Smithville, twelve miles away, for a moonlit automobile ride and picnic. On return, a supper at Holly Springs lasted about an hour. Fifty people participated.

Trips span Macon, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Sil ver Beach Lodge, Bowling, and North Georgia. The column records engagements, illnesses, hospitalities, and summer plans across Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
Savannah Ga Aug 3 1910 Stubbs Keen announce Hotel Tybee will be rebuilt on the old site in time for 1910. Owners F B Stubbs of Macon and George L Keen say the new hotel will be among the handsomest and safest in the country. Construction will use concrete blocks and the building will be two stories high but cover more area than before.
