Colonel Peyton Dias and the Philadelphia Centennial Vision
Colonel Peyton Dias known as the Tatler of Philadelphia dies at his residence in New Jersey. Born in 1615 in Albany KY, he moved to Philadelphia about 1842 and built a dry goods business with letters from Henry Clay. He funded debts, helped raise soldiers, aided Youngs Kentucky cavalry, and promoted a 1900 Jerusalem reunion and a Philadelphia centennial, leaving a widow and three children.
