E M Viquesney, Americus, Ga, sees his life size statue The Spirit of the American Doughboy chosen as the official American Legion memorial design for national adoption. The work, modeled after the larger lobby piece, won among 300 to 400 entries and will be cast in bronze for a Nashville, Ga, memorial.

Camilla Georgia April 28 M K Boutwell was found not guilty of violating the mob violence act by a Mitchell county jury. He was among nine men arrested in the lynching of Jim Roland near Pelham last January. Will Reeves was tried for murder while Jason Harrell testified about the attempt to remove the black man for protection. Boutwell said he was not a member of the city group and returned home after learning the negro had been captured. J D Bettison refused to testify.
