Miles Will Not Be Wholly Sustained By Court Findings

Bat thew Stanley Quay was today declared not guilty of conspiring to misuse state funds. The judge announced the verdict at 11, amid restrained crowds and tight courtroom security. Moonshiners Kill Tennessee Sheriff in Ambush

April 21 Knoxville dispatch reports Sheriff J. B. Dawson of Cocke County killed during a revenue raid in Cocke County near the North Carolina line. Chief Raiding Deputy J. D. Alton was shot in the coat, Dawson dying instantly. The mountains 25 miles from telegraph points, with moonshiner bands said to be nearby and reinforcements expected.
