Portage La Prairie Manitoba April 21 A levee on the Assiniboine river broke at 2 am southwest of the city flooding the railway yards and residential area. Householders began packing to leave at a moment’s notice as the torrent swept into town.
Winnipeg dispatch reports serious flood conditions along the Assiniboine at Portage la Prairie with river overflow sweeping rail yards and homes. Residents used row boats to seek safety as Brandon shows slight improvement with water level dropping about 18 inches in 12 hours.
