Bagley stock 3500 and building damage 4000. Incendiary origin suspected, no firefighting equipment, bucket brigade. Post office fixtures and belongings lost. no early post office department loss estimate.
At the weekly Windsor Hotel luncheon Kiwanians welcomed Dr William Russell Owen evangelistic as an honor guest along with singer P S Rowland. Owen urged members to define true aristocracy by merit rather than birth as they discussed rising from poverty to serve the community.

Miss Mathilde McCormick granddaughter of John D. Rockefeller and daughter of Harold and Edith Rockefeller McCormick wed Max Oser in London Thursday morning in a secret ceremony. Oser, a Swiss army major and former riding master, is 45 years old. The marriage reportedly took place at Lewisham registry office, a suburb of London.
