Raymond Carter Killed by Grady Simmons in Baxley
In Baxley on Wednesday noon Raymond Carter age 9 died from a pistol shot at the hands of Grady Simmons 18. Simmons seized the pistol at the home of Mrs Jane Simmons and claims he tried to take it away. A coroner jury found voluntary manslaughter and Simmons was jailed awaiting grand jury action.

Gravel handling moves to siding south of Valdosta
Valdosta reports all loading operations for paving gravel have shifted from the city to a siding below the city. Last cars shipped were cleaned up last week and no more are stopped in local yards. The change brings gravel closer to the work scene for now.
