Christmas Candle Fundraiser Grows at Silver Grill

A Thanksgiving candle fundraiser at the Silver Grill in Amarillo has grown into a 75 pound mass of tallow holding about 200 in change. Customers, newsboys, and businessmen add coins daily, with proceeds to be given to Children’s Home. The mass will be opened at Christmas morning to pour the coins to the children.

Plains Ranch Pioneer Dies

Frederick George Patching, known as Bar-O-Kid, an early Panhandle ranching figure born in Black Heath England in 1865, died at 83 in Plainview Clinic, after a heart attack.
