The $250000 four story building at Sixth and Polk houses perfume hosiery gloves shoes underwear and leather goods on the first floor with a new gentlemen’s wear department. The second floor features millinery and ladies ready to wear while the show spot awaits on the second floor. The event marks a new era in Panhandle retail and represents 42 years of White & Kirk retail experience.

Crash Victim Edwin Hood Remembered In Claude
Edwin E F Hood 27 of Claude died when a Dodge sedan overturned on a dirt road near Claude as four friends rode to JA Ranch camp. Hood, a Farmers Grain and Implement partsman, was married to Elizabeth Hood, son of Mrs F A Hood, and member of the Church of Christ. Other riders Joe Bailey Blake Alexander and D B Mathews escaped with minor injuries. Hood's death follows his father’s passing two months earlier.
