The Frank Litle Construction Company of Amarillo was the successful bidder for the nurses home at Northwest Texas Hospital with a bid of 47 918 accepted by the county commission. Six other bidders competed. The contract goes to the WPA office in Fort Worth for approval as part of a 300 000 federal funded hospital improvement program. Construction will start soon after final approval.
Bids for Amarillo PWA water works and sewer extension came in many proposals from around two dozen contractors. The city manager said the low bids were about 20 percent under the estimates with roughly 186000 tied to a PWA loan and grant and the project to start by December 19.
