A tropical storm swept through the Bahamas and Turks Island causing minor damage and light disruption. Reports note limited flooding and no serious injuries as crews assess affected areas.
New acreage price records were reported around the Roxana oil well in Carson county. Floyd Howarth et al of Tulsa paid 87,500 for 50 acres located 900 feet west of the well, while yesterday 80 acres sold at 1,000 an acre. The Roxana well reportedly yields about 56 barrels per hour and plans for a White Deer pipeline and storage tanks are under way.
The Magnolia company maintains a 50 cent per barrel crude price cut in the Panhandle with no instructions from other officials to follow suit.
City boosters press plan to retain trolley service as plans to pave Seventh Street from Amarillo to San Jacinto threaten the street car company. W. W. Lynch of Amarillo Improvement Co says buses would replace cars with a equal or better schedule and orders two large buses for San Jacinto. A committee may ask the city commission to preserve the street car service.
Ventura California September 17 Lew Cody film actor and Mabel Normand screen actress wed at 3 AM after obtaining license at 2 AM. The ceremony was performed by county recorder Thomas Nielandt and confirmed by the official.
Fred W. Frost of San Antonio announced plans for a fourteen story structure at Ninth and Taylor streets. The $1,250,000 building includes a bank on the first floor with reserved space by capitalists from Eastland San Antonio and Dallas, a 2,000 seat theater, and offices. Construction planned to start by January 1.

The Buffalo Oil Company's Smith No. 1 well reportedly flows at about 100 barrels per hour after a shot yesterday. W. O'Brien, company president, said the well yields around 4,000 barrels daily as work crews clean the hole.
The body of Eugene Fisher a 1 year old boy who drowned while swimming Wednesday afternoon was found on the gulf shore at Galveston early today. Auction sale announced for September 14th.
Reports from Mazatlan and Cajeme hint General Obregon delayed on the Yaqui rebels line while trains were halted. Other dispatches from Guaymas and Cajeme say passengers boarded to safety with no confirmation of Obregon’s death.
Bobby Jones of Atlanta defeats Francis Ouimet of Boston 5 and 4 to reach the final round at Shorthills New Jersey. George Von Elm of Los Angeles beats George Dawson of Chicago 1 up 10 to play to reach the final round at Wallastol.
The Associated Press reports Rickard claims he has not leased broadcasting rights for the September 17 bout in Philadelphia. He notes no counterterms were signed and warns any broadcast deal would require proper authorization.
