Potter county grand jury may probe a sensational attack on District Attorney W. J. Flesher made by Sheriff Wiley Pollard. Pollard blamed lack of cooperation from the district attorney's office in beer joint raids and appeals to Potter county citizens for help. The statement came as Flesher was reported in Terrell Texas and expected back in Amarillo Thursday.

Vote for Fair Queen Opens Ballots at Amarillo Fair

Balloting begins tomorrow for the Tri-State Breezes fair queen with duchess representatives from each school district. Cotton Breaks Five Dollars In Early Trading

New Orleans and New York cotton markets fell sharply after weekend selling driven by bearish government crop estimates. October contracts dropped to around 17.5 cents per pound, with December and January near 17.6 cents, marking a steep decline from Saturday closes. City Schools Open For New Term In Amarillo 1928

About 7 400 children head to classes as Amarillo begins the 1928 29 term with expanded facilities. Alice Landergin Margaret Wills and junior high courses added at San Jacinto and Buchanan. Central Junior High expects around 600 students. 26 teachers, refinished science rooms, Daisy Birchfield to lead domestic science and Mrs Ethel Wells science. Nearly 200 children under seven have affidavits filed to attend different schools. High schools register many new out of town students, with around 200 new names from elsewhere. Forest Hill students will attend Buchanan until a new school is built.

Girl Gored by Bull Near Inman Kansas

Hazel Kash fourteen daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Kash living near Inman northeast of Hutchinson Kansas was fatally injured when a bull gored her Saturday She had been sent to drive cattle from one pasture to another and was found later in a pasture with the bull standing over her She regained consciousness briefly to relate the attack and died about two hours later.

Six Convicts Dead in Louisiana Prison Break

In Baton Rouge the Louisiana state penitentiary riot left six convicts dead and eight wounded as four teens tried to shoot their way out. The group overpowered guards, seized guns at the ammunition room, and fled by launch on the Mississippi River, with gunfire echoing as authorities closed in. Ward en Amacker led the search for the missing inmates believed to have fled cross country. Owen, held to 14 to 21 years for shooting a New Orleans policeman, is named by officials as the organizer of the escape attempt.
