Amarillo expects 1931 tax roll rise around one and a half million
The 1931 tax roll estimate, prepared by the city assessor and tax collector, projects about a 1.5 million dollar increase from 1930. The 1930 roll was 61,520,620, up 2,216,540 from 1929. The city aims to hold the rate at 1 dollar per hundred, down from 1.35 in 1929, while payroll cuts and new industrial properties from a December 29 election widen the tax base. The equalization board refrained from broad increases, with reappraisal approved ahead of 1932 assessments, partly due to zoning changes.
