AUSTIN Sept 9 U P Refusal by the Senate to join its agricultural committee with the House for hearings marked the start of Texas farmers session. The House resolution for joint cotton price relief hearings was rejected as both chambers opened.
In Salt Lake City on September 9 a riot at Utah State Penitentiary raged for an hour and a half. One convict was killed, Louis Deathridge, a former St Louis gangster, died after a failed escape attempt. Two guards were briefly held. several convicts were armed and exchanged shots with officers.
