Job Seekers Urged To Direct Inquiry To Texas Service
A. A. Meredith district manager of the Works Progress Administration asked that all inquiries about private employment be directed to the Texas Employment Service. WPA workers are registered for private employment with the TSES and assignments for private jobs come from the TSES. The WPA handles only WPA project placements and has no jurisdiction over private jobs. All WPA workers are available for private work but must be contacted through the TSES. Meredith said the split calls from job-seekers and employers are now slightly acute due to farm labor shortages.
