Amarillo Fair to Host Children’s Day Monday

Amarillo’s Tri-State Exposition prepares a children’s day for over 5,000 students from local schools. Bob Emmett seeks Panhandle Automobile Club volunteers to transport youngsters to and from the fair, with registration for schools and rider counts. Masterman of Oaklands a 11 year old prize bull from Taft Texas will appear at the Tri State exposition. Burch's filling station in Tulsa was robbed of about 500 dollars worth of tires and tubes last night. Most tires were Ford size Kelly-Springfields. The entry was made after a door was pried open, police reported.

Veterans Bureau official in parley here

J H Baxley of Washington connected with the Veterans Bureau visited Amarillo to assess the city as a potential veterans hospital site. He acts as advisor to Director Hines and will report back before any decision is announced after meeting with local Legion leaders and ex-soldier groups.

A young robber failed to rob the Southside State Bank last night. He confronted Teller Ray Thorpang this morning as the bank opened, forcing him to surrender 1500 dollars before fleeing the southern city edge in a car.

Report Is Million Bales Less Than Average Guess

DALLAS September Terats will benefit by the increase in cotton price to such an extent today that every man, woman and child in the state could receive $4 each extra, according to M H Thomas known on the Patten of the cotton market here. Thomas predicted cotton will sell for 30 cents a pound before the end of the year. Texas benefited by 470000000 on today's 10 a bale advance, he said. Today's report are the greatest blessing to the South since 1924. It has put money in the hands of the farmer and cotton picker who in turn will reflect their prosperity in other lines of business.

Cotton futures rise on September crop forecast

Cotton prices surged after the September forecast showed a reduced crop by about 800,000 bales. October futures reached 24.40 cents a pound and December 24.72 as markets absorbed the report. The decline attributed largely to boll weevil impact and August conditions.

Officer Sloan Indicted for False Arrest Near Amarillo

Deputy sheriff U. S. Sloan was indicted by the grand jury on a misdemeanor charge of false arrest following a raid at a dancing club near Amarillo. The same grand jury returned four other felony indictments with arrests not yet made. The complainant is Smithson, taken into custody by Sloan at the club.

Who Has What Ring and Why in $1000 Damages Suit

The case of Ethel Johnson et vir versus Joseph C. Hurst et al in Judge Bishop's court aimed for a jury this afternoon. Five sets of attorneys appear for the plaintiffs and defendants over a disputed ring's ownership and value. The ring offered in evidence is believed to belong to A. M. Barnett, though the suit centers on money obtained from Hurst with a ring of greater value.
