Amarillo's school board announced plans for two new tea room schools in the Oliver Eakle addition and Country Club district, to start after final plan approval and bids. The seven-project program includes Humphries Highlands four room school, Summit and Buchanan Street expansions, and mid autumn readiness for several units. Sites were secured earlier, and architects were directed to complete plans quickly to invite bids.
Cranwell England September 7 United Press reports the planned Columbia monoplane flight by Charles A. Levine and Captain Walter R. Hinchcliffe to New York or Philadelphia was postponed again due to a head wind. Hinchcliffe announced the delay after 7 a.m. with preparations finished for take-off.
Partly cloudy forecast for tonight and Thursday. Highs and lows around 85 and 64 today with a year ago reading 88 and 63. Hourly readings from 7 am to 11 pm include 64, 69, 75, 79, 82, 85, and 86 degrees respectively.
The Carling, a Stinson-Detroiter named Sir John Carling, launched from Harbor Grace at 7:25 a.m. EST bound for London Ontario then London England. Pilot Captain Terry Tully and navigator Lieutenant James Medcalf lead the crew as weather forced a prior attempt to London, Ontario to return. A $25,000 prize awaits if they reach London safely. The craft uses a Wright Whirlwind motor and mirrors the Pride of Detroit in construction.
A motorcycle officer nicknamed The Fighting Marine, Johnny Hays, had his motorcycle stolen from a shop door Monday night. It was later recovered in an alley by the Santa Fe station, ridden briefly and then severely wrecked.
Amarillo telephone officials say rates will rise with the dial automatic system, likely late October. The exact increase is undecided, but may run about 35 percent, with a 40 percent rise on business lines and one party residence lines per earlier city commission terms. The commission will be notified 30 days before filing new rates, and ordinances will authorize them after completion of the plant. The company plans to revise the schedule as work proceeds. Four men died and a fifth was arrested after a shootout in New York City aimed at settling a real estate dispute worth 500 dollars. Charles M Bernstein of Baltimore surrendered after a long confrontation. Victims include Victor J Steinberg, Charles Herskowitz, Henry C Cohen, Robert McGrority, and John Steinlauf. A nine story fall caused additional injuries and deaths during the chaos. Bernstein named as killer by Cohen before dying.

At the Amarillo Tri-State exposition, Pathe News and Paramount News set hotel reservations with Guy H. Allbright representing Pathe and Fred Bochelman for Paramount. Other news reel cameramen are expected to cover crowds and major events, offering attendees a chance to appear in movies.

An injunction restrains Comptroller H Terrell from paying seven legislators on the tax survey commission ten dollars per day plus expenses. Judge James R Hamilton granted the relief Wednesday morning in the criminal district court. The motion was denied as it applies to the eight citizen members of the committee.
In Baltimore county near Loch Raven a woman, Made line Zorach, 26, was found dead in an automobile with a pistol by her side. She had been shot to death and was reported as an employee of a local advertising agency and an expert bowler with several tournament wins.
A F Zoree, 35, superintendent of construction for Day and Zimmerman, died early today at a local hospital. He was a Amarillo resident since October and supervised work on the new electric plant. Survived by widow and two children. Body held at Griggs' funeral home pending relatives' advice.
Army airplanes will exhibit on Aviation Day at the Amarillo Tri-State exposition on Wednesday September 14. Col Harve H. Haines announced the planes will fly in from Duncan Field San Antonio and perform battle maneuvers with stunt fliers and special equipment. Officials see the event as a boost to the fair and to Amarillo aviation development.
Tyler dispatch reports the Cain Anderson flogging trial jury could not reach a verdict at 10:80 AM. Judge Warren ordered the foreman to return jurors for further deliberation.
Thirteen additions to the Church mark the Baptist revival led by Rev. J. M. Jones of Missionary Baptist church in Bushland. At closing, town church members from all denominations surprised the preacher with an old time pounding. Jones says he is in good shape for future preaching.
The 7 weeks old baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. David M. Warren died this afternoon in Amarillo. The body is being held by N. S. Griggs and Sons Undertakers, pending arrangements for the funeral.
