Candy Plant Blast Kills 2 and Burns Dozens Injured
Fire officials in Chicago say a large candy plant blast killed two workers and injured at least 19, with many in critical condition. Fire Commissioner Corrigan said night shift workers may bring total deaths higher, as crews seek more victims amid flames and debris. Two unidentified bodies were taken to Cook County morgue about two hours after the explosion as investigators estimate up to 30 may have been inside. The plant, among the Midwest’s largest candy makers, could see losses exceeding $500 000 and possibly up to $1 000 000 in damage.

District Attorney Lloyd King prepared murder charges Tuesday morning against Kirk Sanford for the shooting of Grady Balchum in Randall County.
