The body of Harry Schaman a 33 year old Amarillo resident died suddenly in his store. He died of heart failure about 11 am and was sent by rail to Dallas for burial under Blackburn-Boxwell funeral directors. Survived by widow and one child. He was accompanied by his wife and brother in law Charles Klingman Amarillo businessman. He had lived in Amarillo briefly.

In Garza County jail at Post a prisoner named E. L. Bracken was killed during an incident. J. H. Ramsey, the jailer, is charged with murder and is held on bond set at 7 500 dollars. Bracken, awaiting transfer to Huntsville for a term for assault with intent to kill, had threatened at breakfast. Ramsey waived preliminary hearing.
A minority faction of about 880 miners, out of 4,000 employed, refused to work in western Wyoming as a $1.20 cut in the basic pay scale was approved by a joint scale committee of mine operators and United Mine Workers. The walkout follows a hurried organization amid plans to submit the reduction to miners for a vote later this month. Mines affected include Superior, Reliance, Quealy and the Gun.
An inmate's penciled letter planned a drop of a satchel with saws from above to help an outside accomplice, targeting Amarillo on October 17. Deputies guarded the jail as the attempt failed. handwriting was traced as belonging to an educated prisoner, but author identity remains undetermined.
