William Edward Hickman, the youth condemned to be hanged for the Marion Parker murder, spends his days on death row at San Quentin reading a Bible and writing letters asking forgiveness. An appeal for clemency will be made by attorney Jerome Walsh to Governor Young, but chances are slim. Hickman says the kidnapping was to raise money for college and the ministry, and he killed Parker to avoid detection. He faces three more days before execution and will move to solitary confinement after an open air exercise period.
An unavoidable delay in receiving the last part of the makeup causes the next installment to be postponed. It will appear Wednesday evening on the editorial page, delaying the current serial.
Amarillo taxi driver Lewis Shorty Avritt arrived at a local hotel with his wife after a 60 day trip described as spent under threat from his kidnapper. He later reported to his employer and the police chief, saying he would not discuss details until investigations proceed.
Col. Ernest C. Thompson reports a single Amarillo skeptic among donors while volunteers push a drive to raise 15000 to relieve the fair association of all debt. Over 8000 has been donated in one week as residents and independent firms support a larger exposition, with mail contributions urged to speed the effort.

Three bandits held up a taxicab transferring registered mail between railroad stations in Buffalo. They shot and wounded three guards and a police officer, then fled in an automobile with sacks of mail. Police estimated the loot was not large. The cab had just left the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western station bound for the New York Central station. Franz Dyche returned yesterday from a short business trip to Dallas.
Walter Johnson, famed ex pitcher for the Washington baseball team in the American League, signed a three year contract today to manage the club. The terms were not disclosed.
Nain continues to fall across scattered Panhandle areas with up to 0.5 inch in several locales. Amarillo reports 0.4 inch last night, Fort Worth and Denver lines note rain from Texline to Childress, while Can yon to Abernathy see lighter showers. Farmers anticipate beneficial moisture for newly planted wheat and larger upcoming acreage.
The Graf Zeppelin flew over Philadelphia city hall at 2 40 pm and over Baltimore at 1 pm drawing whistles from harbor crowds. It will visit Washington before Lakehurst, covering about 6500 miles in roughly 110 hours, with arrival around 4 pm.

Posters denouncing 100 American Legion members in Mexico City labeled them as assassins strike-breakers and American fascists. Signed by Diego Rivero, a leader of the Mexican section of the anti imperialist League of America, the display urged Mexicans to shun the visitors while noting U S hands off Latin America.
