Air Force Lt. Gen. Nathan F. Twining and Vice Admiral John L. McCrea met Gen. Douglas MacArthur for three days near the Imperial Palace to discuss safeguards against a surprise attack and to foster Army Navy Air Force cooperation. The talks aimed at applying central defense concepts to possible war conditions in the Pacific with an amphibious exercise planned for Alaska next February.

Charles Haggerton Jr son of Mr and Mrs Charles Haggerton 1311 East Sixth was convicted of theft of a 1947 Kaiser sedan belonging to Norman C Buck Long The vehicle was involved in a Sunday night June 20 crash into the J Oliver residence at 1900 Crockett after being released without a driver earlier and wrecked the porch and bedroom wall This trial marks the first felony case in a batch of four or more stemming from a wave of car thefts over several months.
More than a dozen cars were stolen with several wrecked or damaged in crashes, arroyos, or against fences. William Haggerton and Richard Walls face theft charges on the Long car, Earl Chism later charged as a theft witness.
