Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Get Longest Tile Lining
The Brooklyn Battery tunnel project in New York worth 80 million dollars will feature the longest tile lining in the United States. Seventeen tile crews work on ceilings with six months to finish ceilings and six more to complete walls. When done the tile will cover 780000 square feet across 9117 feet, surpassing the Holland tunnel. The tunnel aims for 16 million cars annually, with completion projected for 1950. In Kilkenny Ireland an Anti Smoking Society enforces a two dollar fine for members who smoke at local events.
