John Amery, son of a former Indian secretary, was sentenced to death at the Old Bailey for high treason and treachery after pleading guilty to eight counts in a Berlin Nazi propaganda case. The sentence followed a brief London trial.
The self confessed traitor John Amery, son of Leopold Amery who headed the India Office, stood in court after broadcasting Axis propaganda from Italy and Germany. He tried to recruit for the British Free Corps to fight for Germany.
