U S Hatches Plot Against Stalin Charges Rise At UN

Paris Nov 23 AP The Soviet Union filed a formal complaint with the United Nations accusing the United States of financing armed groups to overthrow Prime Minister Stalin's government. Foreign Minister Vishinsky said the Mutual Security Act funds subversive groups, an act of aggression toward the USSR and other communist states. The US State Department dismissed the protest as groundless propaganda.

Amarillo Plane Pilot Believed Dead in Bay Crash

Private pilot Robert N. Eubank 27 of Amarillo is believed killed when his plane crashed in Matagorda Bay near Rockport Texas. Wreckage found in over 10 feet of water after a day-long search by Navy Coast Guard and private planes. Willie Hawkins foreman at Matagorda Island ranch last two months. both men missing since leaving Aransas County Airport Tuesday. Eubank, son of the late John J. Eubank, served in World War II marine corps air wing and graduated from Amarillo High School. He left Amarillo about four years ago. Survived by two half sisters and a brother.

Gunmen Grab $62 000 From Kansas City Bank

Two men robbed the Johnston County National Bank and Trust in Prairie Village Kansas of about $62 000 as thirteen employees were herded into the vault. The robbers fled in a late model yellow convertible after a 15 minute operation. They wore white coveralls and used an M 1 rifle and a .38 pistol. The incident ranks among the metro area’s largest robberies in 25 years.

Reds Claim US Plane Over Siberia

Russia protests an American reconnaissance aircraft crossed the Siberian border near Vladivostok, claiming it was fired on by Soviet fighters. Moscow awarded two navy fliers the Order of the Red Banner, linking the incident to past air engagements and noting U S personnel losses. The State Department asked Gen Ridgway to investigate as diplomats with the embassy in Moscow provided details.

Richard W. McGee, convicted killer, waits for the State Board of Control decision on which insane asylum to be sent to after a jury found him insane following an 18 hour trial. If deemed sane, he faces execution for shooting R. L. Allston of Lubbock in July 1948 after objections to his attentions to Allston’s daughter.

Amarillo Area Weather Forecast Sees Warmer Temperatures

The Amarillo region reports fair and continued cold conditions this afternoon and tonight with a high near 47 degrees and a low around 30. Increasing clouds and warmer trends expected Saturday with a high near 58. A 24 hour period ending at 6:30 this morning recorded a high of 54 and a low of 25. West region shows partly cloudy skies with little temperature change through Saturday.

The Oldhams sue Clarence and Mildred Palvadore plus local officials and the Second National Bank of Houston for 3161.24 taken from Duce Rash in the Oct 6 Oldham Grocery hold up. The suit seeks to prove ownership of a 1500 dollar cashier's check and is set for Judge W E Gee in 108th District Court, while Palvadore faces armed robbery charges in 47th District Court before Judge Bishon.

UN and Communists Eye Armistice by Christmas in Korea

In Panmunjom Korea on November 23 United Nations and Communist representatives agreed to pursue a cease-fire by Christmas, settling the location of a cease-fire line after a 30 day push. The subcommittee set conditions that the line become cease-fire if terms are settled in 30 days, else line reverts to the battleline.

Baby born to Italian marquis's grandson at Cimarron County Hospital

The new grandson of Marquis Pietro Matteucci of Florence is born at Cimarron County Hospital in Boise City Oklahoma. George Gibson Birt weighs eight pounds and is the son of Mrs Gibson Birt and ranch manager Captain Birt. The infant's grandfather is the Italian ambassador to Yugoslavia, and the family plans to stay at the Willson Ranch 20 miles northwest of Boise City while the baby adjusts to home life.

Judge Hints to Spare Robber After Penitentiary Visit

In McAlester Oklahoma Judge Believes 19 year old Jim Glenn Kimbrell who was convicted of armed robbery in Tulsa may be cured after a penitentiary visit. He expressed fear and asked the court to believe his reform claims. The judge expected to suspend the five year sentence based on the youth's behavior during the brief inquiry.
