His wife Isabel Oakvid and son Algrid witnessed the act as officers report the father appeared to go insane before attempting suicide. Griggs ambulance was summoned. the assailant was not expected to live.
George H. Jones chairman of the board of Standard Oil Company of New Jersey died today after a long illness in New York. The death was announced as the industry mourns the loss of a top executive. Jones had led the company through decades of growth and served in key leadership roles. He was widely respected in corporate and energy sectors.
A destitute Amarillo mother, recently deserted by her husband, lost her infant daughter in a physician's office after seeking work to support her three children. The welfare association calls for aid as the 18 month old suffers an infection and the oldest boy, while the mother faces separation from her kids. The Globe offers 10 to a relief fund.

The trip was sponsored by the Amarillo Jobbers and Manufacturers association and was generally praised.
The Welfare Association in Amarillo operates from 513 West Fourth Avenue as part of the Community Chest. Manager Martha Nelson reports the office handles about 190 cases monthly and disburses rent and groceries to those in need, reflecting its major role in local charity efforts.

In Panhandle Texas the $1,000,000 breach of promise case of Mrs. Donnie Vandever against J. A. Whittenburg moved to final arguments after the jury received its charge. Defense witnesses testified in the morning and Vandever recalled to dispute them. Whittenburg, a West Texas oilman, denied all charges and said relations were only employer and employee.
