At a North Amarillo meeting of about fifty residents, a large majority favored leaving the site decision to the city commission. The city has funds for the underpass but not for property damages, and Mayor Lee Bivins offered to finance a public vote while W. H. Woodlief pledged $100 toward such an election.
Wilmer Weatherly, 16, son of farmer F D Weatherly, was robbed of 25 dollars on the Amarillo Bushland highway by two men in a Chevrolet roadster using a double barreled shotgun. They fled south toward Canyon. pursuit failed, no shots were fired.
In Mineral Wells Texas the Baptist pastors laymen and Women’s Missionary union conclude reports elect officers and prepare for the Texas Baptist General convention. W R Covington E J Thompson and others discuss civic righteousness cooperative programs and religious topics as Pat Neff former governor of Texas is slated to preside at the opening.
A blast at the First National Film studios near Burbank California killed Cecil Irwin of Los Angeles and left a man fatally injured and a third seriously hurt. No actors or actresses were harmed. Griggs ambulance reported.
City engineer H B Jones told the Amarillo Airport Commission that site work will begin late next week. Detailed plans are ready, the hangar grows to 906 by 100 feet, a 600 by 50 foot cement runway centered on the field, and a hard surface taxiway to the main runway will be built.

The last words of Capt. W. J. Carey of the Vestris were "Hell, no You jump" as the ship sank after a six day storm. Alfred Duncan, a steward, recalled the scene of abandoning ship and the captain urging others to jump while the lifeboats were gone.
