Gasway Denied New Trial In Death Penalty Case

First Arrivals Check In For WICC Meeting Here
Delegates for the West Texas Chamber of Commerce convention began arriving in Amarillo today ahead of tomorrow's opening sessions at the Herring Hotel. Wendell Bedichek, editor of West Texas Today, announced the three day program, promising a revival of the old razzle dazzle. A trainload of delegates from Dallas and along the route will arrive Thursday morning from Burlington Station. The Midwestern University Band will greet them at Wichita Falls. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. on the Herring mezzanine.

300 More Classrooms Seen as Most by '57

Young airman talked down from water tower in Canyon
Canyon, Nov. 13 A 19 year old private first class in training at West Texas State College attempted to jump from a water tower behind the campus power plant. A friend from Tierra Blanca Hall climbed the pipe and, after a brief talk, brought him down. He was taken to Neblett Hospital for sedation and later transferred to Amarillo Air Force Base Hospital. The incident followed earlier rock-throwing at Palo Duro Dormitory and nearby barracks, with four juveniles arrested and one injured from flying debris. The youth has been at the college for two months and is said to be moody and unsettled by military life.

Probe speeds for fatal City of San Francisco crash

City To Install Quickie Meters In Amarillo
Fifteen minute parking meters are coming to Amarillo. First of the short time meters have been ordered by Harold Miller city traffic engineer. The meters take pennies only one penny at a time if you want to park for longer times you have to come back and drop in another penny. The quickie meters will be installed near utilities offices and similar places where people want to park for a few minutes to pay a bill or transact similar business.
