Warren poised for presidential plunge
Republican Gov. Earl Warren of California is expected to announce his presidential bid today after strong appeals from California GOP leaders. Sen. Richard Nixon predicted Warren would run and be a strong dark horse at the Republican convention. Warren, 66, will hold three news conferences and issue a clear statement as he considers a Warren-for-Press slate of delegates on the June primary ballot. The only declared candidate in the race is Sen. Robert A. Taft of Ohio.

The Lake McClellan executive group meets at the Herring Hotel this afternoon to press for federal aid to rebuild the dam and spillway. A Bureau of the Budget representative will visit Friday for an on-site inspection of the dam and McClellan Creek watershed. Chairman is George S. Vineyard of Pampa. The spillway lower apron was washed away by spring floods.
