Recluse in Oakland Held Over Atom Bomb Fears and Camera Gear
Otto F. Maynard a 42 year old Oakland resident living in a makeshift shack near the bay bridge is held for the FBI amid a rare hoard of camera equipment and writings on the atom bomb and defense. Leland A. Manzer, former president of the Wellington State Bank, is charged in federal court with embezzling 30000 dollars on June 23 1951. He resigned Friday night, was arrested Saturday, arraigned in Amarillo, and posted 10000 bond. Manzer 51 lifelong Panhandle resident moved to Wellington in 1923 and rose from clerk to president.
