Mob lynches Black youth after accused confrontation

Joe Boxley, 18, an African American, was taken from Alamo jail and fatally hanged near here by a mob after being sought since yesterday. Sheriff C A Bradshaw blocked a worse mob scene at Gibson County jail as about 1000 men demanded transfer. Boxley reportedly confessed before the mob seized him.

Flood devastates crops and railways. deaths reported near Temple

Heavy flooding injures crops, railways, and livestock as Polk and Tyler counties endure fresh rains. The dead include J. T. Terrell aged 84 of near San Marcos drowned while trying to move a cow to safety and Harry Mike of Lockhart killed when his car skidded on a slippery road near Temple.
