Washington May 27 Dr Arthur E Morgan declared he remains TVA chairman in an open letter to Dr Harcourt A Morgan President Roosevelt had ousted him. He rebutted charges of mismanagement and dictatorial aims by H A Morgan and David Lilienthal while defending real estate ethics study and a cement plant project that Morgan says saved TVA money.

A cow ran the red light on Courthouse Square in Gainesville Texas injuring Deputy Sheriff Carl Wilson who was waiting at a traffic light. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA accepted an invitation from the Protestant Episcopal Church to pursue organic union. The resolution expresses a strong intent to cooperate in studying and forming plans toward potential church union. The invitation originated with Rev. James DeWolfe Perry, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, from Cincinnati in October 1937.
