Liberated Allied Soldier Returns Home After Prison
Pfc. Jack D. Rowen, captured at Salerno while with the 36th Division, was liberated by Russian forces after 22 months in German captivity and has written to his parents at 718 North Lincoln. His wife resides in Las Vegas, New Mexico, as he reports he is on his way home.

Amarillo Youth Pvt James Wood Heads Overseas
Pvt James O Wood 18, son of Mr and Mrs R O Wood of 211 Forest Amarillo has been assigned to overseas duty in the Pacific area. He enlisted in the Marines last December after finishing Amarillo High School and received his diploma on first leave. After boat training in Paris Island he trained at Camp Lejeune and was recently sent to Oceanside California. The Amarillo native formerly worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.

Six days after a telegram about a son liberated from a German camp Mr and Mrs C A Robertson of 3617 Fountain Terrace received a postcard from their other son a prisoner in Japan The German prisoner Lt Charles Robertson Jr was held Oct 29 1944 until his release The Japanese prisoner Sgt Warren Robertson has been in captivity since the fall of Java His card dated Oct 15 1944 from Prison Camp No 2 Fukuoka Japan says he is well Ryan Robertson is in the field artillery and a graduate of Amarillo High School and studied at Texas A M College.
