Mrs. A. Funderberg reports her cat killed a yard long snake on the back porch as three kittens played. The cat grabbed the snake behind its head, killed it, dragged it to the lawn, then licked her paws.
Lt Audre L Murphy of Greenville Texas and Capt Maurice Britt of Fayetteville Arkansas are the only two U S Army officers to have earned every American medal for valor. Murphy won the Congressional Medal of Honor for single handedly halting 250 attackers and six tanks in the Colmar Pocket battle after guiding artillery from a foxhole and seizing a burning tank destroyer’s 50 caliber gun. Wounded, he refused aid, reorganized his company, and pressed the enemy retreat.
Washington reports Vice Admiral John S. McCain commander of the carrier task force urges the home front to back the Seventh War Loan. He says sustained funding equips fighting men with weapons to smash the enemy until defeat.
SHAEF announced strict censorship of German news until Nazi influence ends. An Allied press service will publish world news for Germany from the United Kingdom led by James T. Hart with OWI and British Foreign Office personnel. Information control teams will audit local newspapers to enforce censorship.

Gen. Karl Oberg, former head of SS and police in occupied France, was arrested today by airborne and infantry units. He was found at a mountain hideout after a three hour ascent and identified by Maj. Cecil Simmons of the 3rd Battalion, 502nd Parachute Infantry.
A congressional food investigator said OPA plans a drastic curtailment of industrial sugar cutting manufacturers to half their 1944 supply or less. The May 25 statement cites a sharp reduction in allocation.
