Milestones Through May in Early 20th Century Amarillo
A collage of notes recalls 1901 reopening of a restaurant by Jake Bruner and new shops like porter and Bowles with an ice cream parlour. May 1921 brings tales of Nell Wanderwell and Captain Wanderwell in travels, a car dispute with police, and a pursuit by air. May 1931 adds fashion trends like Ping Pong pajamas. May 1940 headlines cover boat races, census deadlines, deaths, and notable local exchanges, with a mix of civic events and social notes from Amarillo and Perryton.
