Highway Officials Weigh Low Bids On $1 008 318 Road Projects
State highway commissioners heard county bid requests as they eyed awards for several projects. Low bids included F J D Autremont for 11 miles of grading and drainage on Port Arthur Beaumont highway at 163 447 and Central Bitulithic Dallas for a bituminous concrete roadway on Highway 1 to the Santa Fe crossing at 128 174. A proposed Galveston causeway widening financed by a PWA loan costs 1 350 000 with 20 feet added width. The Sabine County bridge and other items were discussed as federal flood relief funds shape plans.
