Woman Killed in Car Wreck Near River Road School
Mrs. Jack Wells 32 of Dalhart died at 3 50 this morning in a local hospital from injuries from a late night crash on the Dumas Highway about a mile north of River Road School. R E Collins and Earl M Kendrick remain in critical condition at St. Anthonys Hospital. Nell H Clark of Amarillo and Mr Wells survived with lesser injuries. The crash involved a southbound 1942 Buick driven by Kendrick and Clark passing a 1928 Ford Truck driven by Everett Howell of Felt Oklahoma when they collided head on with Mr Collins 1940 Chevrolet. The Buck was thrown into the truck. the truck occupants were uninjured. Mr Collins a Rock Island Railway engineer lives in Dalhart. Mr and Mrs Wells moved to Dalhart four months ago and worked at the Carter Cafe. Mrs Wells survived by her husband and four Raff siblings. The body lies at Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home.

Crash on U S Highway 60 East of Amarillo Injures No One
Highway patrolmen reported a collision on U S Highway 60 between the underpass and east of Amarillo last night around 11. A car driven by Walter B. Brown of Panhandle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Pvt. Eldon Cook, who had four soldiers as passengers. Cook’s car had run out of gas and was being pushed off the highway when hit. Brown could not stop in time.

Mrs. Mary E. Lemons Dies in Fort Worth
Mrs. Mary Etta Lemons former Amarillo resident died Saturday in a Fort Worth hospital. She lived in this city 17 years and was mother of Mrs. W. G. Martin of Amarillo. Survivors include two sons Willis D. Lemons of Houston former manager of the General Electric Supply Corporation in Amarillo and R. C. Lemons of Memphis.
