Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker were identified by H. E. Smith as the pair who visited a Midland cafe today in a Ford V-8. The man bought cigarett es and a pistol was seen. a rifle or machine gun faced the cafe as the couple fled west pursued by deputies and citizens.
Reports from Tucson and Chicago detail a fresh ransom demand tied to six year old June Robles. A note believed authentic was delivered to County Attorney Clarence Houston's office while another mysterious call claimed the child is safe in Chicago. An unnamed Mexican man remains detained as investigators seek the ransom plot's organizers.
A 47th District Court jury in Amarillo heard final statements as state and defense prepared for closing arguments in the Joe V. Moore murder trial. The state contends Moore, after a March 21 auto crash that killed Shirley Palmateer, was intoxicated. the defense cites a dialciba overdose. Moore testified he remembered little from shortly before the crash to the next day. The verdict is expected late afternoon or tonight.
In Abilene on May 9 Rotarians from the 41st district selected Midland as host city for the 1935 conference, winning over Amarillo in club president balloting. The meeting would close that afternoon after Walter D. Cline of Wichita Falls addressed the group and H. Taylor of Brownwood spoke as the new governor nominee.

Reports from Croydon say wreckage spotted in the English Channel about 16 miles off Boulogne, France, believed to be a French air craft with six men aboard. Initial word says occupants may not have survived. small planes dispatched to the scene.
Raymond Hamilton identified in district court today as one of the robbers who held up the Grand Prairie State Bank on March 19 and stole about 1500 dollars. Bank officers J F Waggoner and J T Yeager testified that Hamilton and a companion named Joan Basden participated in the heist. The case carries two robbery counts and an habitual criminal charge, with possible life imprisonment or death if convicted. Hamilton already faces extensive Texas prison terms.

An aircraft attempting a landing at Hoilington Kansas crashed from about 200 feet, killing pilot Warren Jessup his wife and W. W. Houghton of Coffeyville. The plane burned in a wheat field and the cause remains undetermined.
Annietta Troczy of Brooklyn swept her parlor last December when Jan Gunsterdeek, an impatient suitor, threatened violence unless she married him. W T Waggoner 61, owner of Arlington Downs race track, was reported in grave condition in Fort Worth after a relapse from a prior heart attack. Doctors said his condition had not improved in 24 hours but could still improve, with bed confinement for several days. Leviathan to sea again next month with first voyage from New York on June 9 under United States Lines.
Luke Lea and Luke Lea Jr. were turned over to North Carolina officers for banking law violations. A federal hearing before Judge John J. Gore seeks to stop NC officers from removing them from Tennessee. Lea and son face related indictments here tied to the Liberty Bank & Trust Company. NC agents planned to return the Leas to North Carolina, where they were convicted years ago of bank law violations.

Amarillo readers were urged to back Amarillo’s bid for the 1935 West Texas Chamber of Commerce convention at a meeting called by the local chamber. The bid, centered on Amarillo’s hotel and entertainment facilities, will be formalized next Wednesday when Mayor Ross D. Rogers issues the invitation at the San Angelo gathering.
In U S Circuit Court Judge Samuel Alschuler declined to reduce Samuel Insull's $200,000 bond, saying the motion was not properly before him. Insull remained in county jail facing ongoing habeas corpus questions while his attorney prepared another bond challenge.
